North-Shores is a private beach community located adjacent to Henlopen Acres and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The resort beaches of southern Delaware have been named as one of the best places to retire and Reader's Digest has recognized the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk as one of the "Best in America." Often billed as "The Nations Summer Capital" due to the frequent visitors from Washington D.C., Rehoboth Beach is known for its mile-long boardwalk, outdoor activities, amusements and eclectic shops. The area provides a wide variety of accommodations, from cozy bed and breakfasts to fine hotels. Restaurants offer everything from fresh catch of the day to French cuisine. Rehoboth Beach is also home to several festivals, including the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival and the Sea Witch Festival. Other attractions near North Shores includes Cape Henlopen State Park, with its famous "walking" sand dunes, Delaware Seashore State Park and Fenwick Island State Park. North Shores is approximately two hours from Washington D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia.

Southwestern Delaware has a four-season climate that is moderated by the Atlantic Ocean. It is classified as humid subtropical. The state is the second smallest in the U.S. - only 96 miles long and from 9 to 35 miles across, and most of it lies within the Atlantic Coastal Plain. However, in spite of being so small, there is some variation between the north and south regarding temperature and amount of snowfall received each year. Southwestern Delaware has a somewhat milder climate and longer growing season than northern Delaware. Summers are hot and humid and winters are relatively mild due to the mountains of Pennsylvania blocking the cold winds in winter. Precipitation is distributed fairly evenly throughout the state, although southwestern Delaware receives less than the southeastern portion of the state. Thunderstorms are possible anytime of the year, but especially in spring and summer. Tornadoes in the state of Delaware are below the national average and hurricanes rarely make a direct.
